A family of English background with a taste for traditional interiors was relocated to Arizona. They brought a particular aesthetic and a sense of comfort that needed to be incorporated into the Southwest style. They referred to this Great Room as “the warehouse” because of its size and drabness. They desperately wanted an inviting space that suited their taste and lifestyle. While at home, this family of three generations, enjoy being in the proximity of each other.
During hiking trips throughout Arizona, the clients accumulated a collection of rocks in different colors and put together a palette they liked for their home. A predilection for the layered patterns that characterize traditional English interiors was clearly expressed as a request for the project.
The finished Great Room is the synthesis of a highly edited process in which the two styles merge effortlessly to create a space that totally meets the clients’ expectations.
